On January 14, the RM of Taché Economic Development team was pleased to take part in the Hanover School Division’s Reality Check Event held at Niverville High School.

This interactive, hands-on learning experience gave students a valuable glimpse into adult life by guiding them through the process of building a realistic monthly budget. Throughout the activity, students explored how income, expenses, and life circumstances can vary widely from person to person. Many were surprised by the real-world costs of essential living expenses such as housing, transportation, groceries, and utilities, gaining a deeper understanding of the financial decisions adults face every day.

The exercise encouraged students to think critically about priorities, financial trade-offs, and the importance of planning ahead. It also provided meaningful insight into how career choices and income levels can directly impact lifestyle and long-term goals.

As part of the event, Nolan represented the RM of Taché at the Career Path booth, where he engaged with students in thoughtful conversations about career planning, workplace readiness, and the importance of financial responsibility when preparing for future employment.

The RM of Taché extends its appreciation to Kirby Krause for organizing this impactful initiative, as well as to the Hanover School Division Hanover School Division for the invitation to participate. Events like Reality Check play an important role in equipping youth with practical knowledge and confidence as they prepare for life beyond the classroom.

The RM of Taché Economic Development team is proud to support programs that empower young people to make informed decisions and build strong foundations for their future.
